What expenses can I claim for when self employed?

I recently registered but I am unsure what invoices I need to be keeping. I am very bad with my paperwork, so could do with any help.

You need to keep any work related expenses so that if HMRC wants to confirm an expense you will have proof.
You can deduct a great deal of your business expenses to calculate your businesses profit – however , you can’t deduct any private spending. And you may claim special reliefs for certain ‘capital expenditure’ – one-off expenses to acquire or improve an asset you keep and use for the business.
